Midnight New Year’s
Chart as Harbinger
How many times do you get to
use the word harbinger? At least once a year! The chart on New Year’s Eve at
midnight is a great indicator of the type of year that we will have. For the
inner planets, we’ve got a sun in dedicated Capricorn, a moon in spontaneous
Aries, Mercury in philosophical Sagittarius, Venus in philanthropic Aquarius,
and Mars in practical Virgo. The outer planets are congregating in Taurus,
Libra, Aquarius, Aries and Capricorn. 2012 will be a year of exciting surprises
and changes that will shift how we both live and love, balanced by the life
giving energy of the sun and the expansion energy of Jupiter, as well as the
transformational energies of Pluto all grounded nicely in Earth Signs. With our
midnight moon in fiery Aries, we should expect lots of new beginnings and fresh
starts throughout the year!
Business Cycle Focus: Moons
in Cancer & Aquarius
The cycle of the moon that
matches the ebb and flow of both the ocean tide and human emotion is a great
tool to check in with at the beginning of a new year. Full moon energy
represents completion and abundance, while New Moon energy represents the start
of something new. Susan Miller of AstrologyZone
teaches us that new moon energy also resets that part of your chart for the
full year ahead. Check out her monthly horoscopes for a more detailed look at
how the stars affect your entire life (love, business, etc). The first full
moon of 2012 will be in Cancer, which is a watery sign that expresses emotional
love through nurturing. Any projects that you are looking to bring to
culmination with a gentle loving touch will do great if you find a way to
complete them around January 8th. The first new moon of 2012 is
found in Aquarius, a sign that encourages communication and powerful networking
energies. Use these two moments to
set up your business cycle energies for 2012 and map out your vision. Also
meditate on the idea that each project you start in January will be for the
greater good of humanity (Aquarius) and each project you finish in January will
make your inner mother (Cancer) burst with pride.

Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 19)

I want my Aries to start off the New Year with a bang. You've got the
New Year Midnight moon in your sign as well as the power of the sun in your
career house for the first couple of weeks of January. Use this power to get any work projects
off the ground. You spent 2011 adjusting to a big change: Uranus, the planet of
surprises moved into your sign in March for a long stay of almost seven years.
Life is going to give you plenty of shake-ups for the next couple of years but
especially in the first two years that Uranus spends in your sign. Your first
house of self will change radically, possibly quickly, so get ready for the
ride! The first half of 2012 will be dominated by Mars' move (both backwards
and forwards) through your sixth house of everyday life in Virgo.
Taurus (Apr 20 - May 20)

I want my Taurus to integrate their inner quest to bring beauty to the
world with their outward focused search for wealth. With the Aquarius New Moon
landing in your tenth house of fame and honors, you'll find a way to turn
whatever idea that you have about helping others into a healthy, solidly money
making venture. Have faith in the creativity that always bubbles beneath the
surface of my seemingly solid as a rock Taurus. Remember that the goddess of
Love and Beauty herself, Venus, rules you. Your ruler is joined by the new moon
in your tenth house, so career decisions made before January 15th
will set the stage for how your fortunes will find their way throughout the year.
The first half of 2012 will be dominated by Jupiter's move through your first
house of self as well as Mars energy directed to your fifth house of
creativity.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

I want my Geminis to tread lightly through the world in order to more
deeply consider their impact on other people. With our ruler Mercury cruising
through three different signs, January is a month of navigating the radically
different waters of partnerships, reinvention and higher education. Be gentle
on those around you, since the Gemini mind is usually five steps ahead of
everyone else. Both love and beauty are crucial to your career in January, with
Venus entering the tenth house of fame and reputation by mid-month. Venus is
entering dreamy Pisces at the same time so whatever your career plans are for
2012, make sure you make decisions from both the heart and also deep within
your subconscious. You'll be preoccupied with your home, real estate and family
for the first six months of 2012 due to Mars energy in your fourth house of
home. Trust that this preoccupation is all about creating a stronger foundation
to build your entire career upon for the next thirteen years.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

I want my Cancers to meditate on their hopes, wishes and dreams for the
New Year. Lucky Cancers are blessed with a full moon in your sign in January.
The dreams you have while sleeping will find their way to your waking life the
more you find ways to focus on them. Time to pull out that dream board or write
down your favorite wish with a color-coded pen (purple for wealth, red for
love, green for health). Mars is keeping you on your toes in your third house
of communication, which represents a big bold shift of thinking for Cancers.
You can sometimes keep your ideas and thoughts hidden beneath a tough exterior,
but Mars plus communication equals bursts of truth. With Uranus settling into
Aries in your tenth house for a nice long stay, you'll have lots of powerful
energies as well as sudden changes in your career. My slow moving Cancers aren't typically used to this much
movement and excitement in their carefully constructed lives. Take the first
six months of 2012 to get used to this new normal of the shifting sands of your
fame and fortune.
Leo (July 23 - Aug 22)

I want my Leos to take stock of where they are in their careers. January
is a time when both the Sun and Mercury will be spending some time in your
house of everyday life. Make sure that everything you eat, every movement of
your body and every moment you spend sorting out the details in January is
really truly deeply representative of whom you are. All of this tedium will
have a fantastic payoff of setting the stage for any health and wealth success
that you will have in 2012. Make sure you capitalize on the power of Jupiter in
your tenth house of fame as well as Mars in your second house of wealth for the
first six months of 2012. Lucky Leos, you'll have a great opportunity to expand
your business or buy a new one if that's where your mind has been going
recently, in the next six months. If you want to make sure that you are set up
for success in your job, look for creative ways to communicate with your
partners in both love, life and business.
Virgo (Aug 23 - Sept 22)
Operations
I want my Virgos to take the time to reflect on how far they traveled in
2011 and where they want to go in 2012. Mars, which entered your sign at the
end of 2011, will be turning retrograde by the end of the month. He won't be
giving you any extra power until he turns direct in mid-April. However, as I've
talked about in the past, retrograde times are moments to pause and take time
for philosophical reflection of life. Think of retrograde motion as the ability
to enjoy the slower pace of life. Most of my Virgos, who have had an intense
burst of energy during the holidays, will welcome the slowdown as a time of
meditation on the joy of journey. Business partnerships will pick up when Venus
enters your house of partnerships by mid month, so make sure that you are ready
for the influx of stunning new clients that tend to follow the lady Venus.
Libra (Sept 23 - Oct 22)
Fulfillment
I want my Libras to begin the integration process, which includes the
acceptance of the major shift of self that are finishing up in the next ten
months. Saturn leaves your sign in October of 2012 and won't return for another
30 years. As I've talked about in previous columns, Libras have had a harder
time than most during this recession, due to the presence of Saturn, the planet
of karma, life lessons and responsibilities, in your sign since 2009. You've
only got the task master Saturn in your first house of self for little bit more
time so whatever lessons you need to learn in at this moment of your life have
more than likely been revealed to you. January is also an exciting time for
your career, with the full moon in your tenth house of career, fame and honors.
This is the time to hold that dream that is dear to your heart in your career
clearly in your mind's eye. The more energy that is focused on manifesting that
vision, the better the out come. Mars will be moving backwards and then
cruising forward for the first six months of 2012 in the challenging twelfth
house of your subconscious so be open and ready if your dreams start speaking
to you more clearly.
Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 21)
Operations
I want my Scorpios to focus more of their energy inward, through
renovations of their home, as well as rehabilitative discussions with those
close to you. Your career takes a back seat in January, as you recover from the
fall, which was a time of getting out into the world. Now is the time for my
Scorpios to embrace a more comfortable state of quiet alone time. This should
be used for stimulating talks with friends or lovers over steaming cups of
cocoa, even if you live in a climate that is hot and sunny! You'll have moments
of clarity in your ability to add to your bottom line in the beginning of the
month with Mercury in your second house of wealth. By the end of the month,
you'll be more interested in discussing ways to spruce up your house for
entertaining. Mars energy in your house of friendships means that the beginning
of 2012 should be focused on ways to increase your visibility in your circle of
friends.
Sagittarius (Nov 22 - Dec 21)
Fulfillment
I want my Sagittarius to take stock of their personal and professional
portfolio. With several planets sending their vibes your way via the second
house of wealth and abundance, January should be a time of navigating your ways
through different choices of where you want to take your career in 2012. With
Mars moving backwards through your tenth house by the end of the month, make
sure that you solidify any work or prospective client discussions. The next couple of months may not be
the most productive time for gaining new clients, but it will be a fantastic
time for deepening the relationship and ties with the clients you already have.
The first half of 2012 will be about energy in your career combined with
abundance in your day-to-day life.
Capricorns (Dec 22 - Jan 19)

I want my Capricorns to forge new business partnerships by the middle of
the month in order to make this year more profitable. Along with Libras,
Capricorns have been taught hard life lessons throughout this recession, with
Saturn plodding through your tenth house of career, fame and honors. I recently
finished reading Liz Greene's book all about Saturn
where she provided me insight into the idea of Saturn as the beast in the fairy
tale "Beauty And The Beast". You have maybe been forced to rethink
the definition of what makes you exactly who you are, since Saturn teaches us
lessons about the deeper parts of our self that sometimes elude everyday
analysis. Some of my Capricorns have spent their entire lives with your
identity tied closely with your job. The past couple of years may have forced
to reinvent yourself. Take a moment to reflect on this reinvention as the
journey that the prince makes from ugly to beautiful. Since 2008, you've also
been adjusting to the reincarnation energies of Pluto in your sign, so the
pressure that you have felt may just be the typical growing pains that come
from Saturn and Pluto.
Aquarius (Jan 20 - Feb 18)

I want my Aquarius to get ready to shine
in the first month of the year. With planets lining up in your sign and your
first house of self, the beginning of the New Year is a great time for an
entirely new version of who you fundamentally want the world to take notice of.
The first half of 2012 will be a time to contemplate the ebb and flow of life,
with Mars in your eighth house of resurrection. You'll need to reflect on how
you want to handle loans or other areas of your life where money comes into
your life from other people (such as bank loans or credit cards) rather than
money you've earned through dividends in the stock market, salary or residuals
from projects completed long ago. Wealth will be yours in the long run during
Neptune's turn in your second house of abundance, but you'll need to examine
the creative side of your subconscious in order to have full access to the
abundance that you so rightly deserve.
Pisces (Feb 19 - March 20)

I want my Pisces to get out and about, since this is the time of year to
mingle with friends. The first half of 2012 will be a time for making strides
in fruitful business ventures with the powerful one two punch of Mars in your
seventh house of partnerships and Capricorn in your eleventh house of
friendship. You've also had to adjust to some surprising changes in the areas
of your life dealing with abundance as Uranus joined Aries in your second house
of wealth. More than any other sign, Pisces are able to go wherever the river of
life takes them, so continue to ride this wave to greater success in all areas
of your life. You saw your favorite planet, Neptune, move into your sign and
house of self in the middle of 2011. He moved back into Aquarius for a brief
moment and then will cruise fully into your sign by February for an extended
stay until 2025. Take this beginning half of the year to get ready for a period
of time that will expand your intuition and psychic abilities to new
heights.
